AIRPORTS: are situated at Cardiff and Bristol (both about one hours drive), London Heathrow, about 1¾ hour. TRAINS: Newport 18 miles and Abergavenny 9 miles BUSES: there is a local service to Raglan from Newport, Abergavenny and Monmouth This is now a prime location for golf with eight courses within fifteen miles, including the Celtic Manor Resort, which hosted the Ryder Cup in 2010. |
| THE LOCAL AREA |
| The village of Raglan is just a ten minute walk with two pubs, an hotel with restaurant, a local supermarket, garage and many other facilities including an award winning butcher. Raglan also hosts a music festival every July. The historic market towns of Monmouth and Abergavenny lie within a twenty minute drive, offering interesting and varied shopping including Waitrose and Marks and Spencer supermarkets. The cultural centres of Cardiff, Bristol and Bath with theatres, cinemas, museums, and sports centres are all within an hour's drive as are the industrial sites of the South Wales Valleys including the World Heritage Site at Blaenavon Ironworks and Big Pit Mining Museum. The Brecon Beacon National Park, Llanthony Valley with its beautiful and tranquil ruined abbey also lie within an hours drive as does the famed Wye Valley where Wordsworth wrote above Tintern Abbey, to the north is the splendid area of Symonds Yat Rock with breathtaking views of the River Wye. |
